The chateau of Josef Hlávka, the greatest Czech patron, architect and building contractor - founder of the J.,M.and Z.Hlávka Foundation, the Czech Academy and the National Economy Institute. Situated on the left bank of the Úhlava river, on three sides surrounded by park which is connected with a Renaissance potager garden. The chateau is dominated by a seven-storey tower with a clock. Frequent visitors here included composer Antonín Dvořák, poets and writers Jaroslav Vrchlický and Julius Zeyer. During the year the chateau is accessible only by arrangement with the Hlávka Foundation and on several weekends.
