Art Nouveau water tower

Vodárenská 128
Nymburk, 288 02

Designed by Osvald Polívka, one of the designers of the Municipal House in Prague, the Art Nouveau chalice-shaped tower was built in 1904, and is still functional. The round iron reservoir is at the top of the tower: the bottom 26.5 m above ground, the roof top 37 m. The volume of the reservoir is 412 cu.m. The modern water tower and new system of water supply in the town thus replaced a centuries-old system in which water was brought from the Elbe to five fountains in Nymburk.
