A neo-Renaissance jewel, more than 120 years old, with an eventful but sad history seeking the restoration of a dignified presence in the social and cultural life of the City of Pardubice.

The villa was commissioned as family mansion by Jiří Larisch-Mönich from the prominent architect  František Schmoranz Sr. It was built in a wooded area outside Pardubice , and surrounded by park. The complex included stables and the "little chateau" was used for recreation and hunting. In 1897 the mansion was acquired by count Alfons Henckel, in 1928-1934 it was in the possession of Ludmila Bidlova who sold it to Leopold Fugger-Babenhausen.

The complex played a sad role during World War II, when it housed a battalion of the Böhmen (Schutzpolizei) reserve police regiment. On the site of a present-day memorial, 194 Czech citizens mainly from Pardubice and surroundings were executed at three wood  posts during nineteen days. One day (24 June 1942) was reserved for summary executions of inhabitants of Ležáky. The inhabitants of this village, including children, were imprisoned and interrogated before the executions in the vast vaults of the "little chateau". The villa thus became a horrible place connected with a dark history in the life of the coutnry. From 1956, the house was held by the state-owned Tesla enterprise, and then by FOXCONN CZ. The recent transfer of the villa – a prominent symbol of Czechoslovak WWII resistance – to the Czechoslovak Legionnaires Community crowned the efforts for its saving and future use corresponding to its importance.
