Hrádek nad Nisou, 463 34

Founded in the 13th century, later on undergoing numerous alterations which gave it the character of a comfortable chateau residence. Nationalised in 1945, becoming part of the borderland military zone and closed to the public till 1993. Currently the castle tours include the Gothic cellars, rooms on two storeys - documenting major stages of the castle history - Renaissance banquet hall, Ancestors´ Hall with Baroque portraits of the owners, Rococo drawing room, manorial office and bedroom of Countess Josephine Clam-Gallas with early 19th-century furnishings. The highlight of the tour is the Renaissance Chapel of St Barbara, richly decorated with 16th-century paintings. The castle tower offers a view of wide surroundings.
