The main museum building is an architectural site listed as a Czech cultural heritage monument. It was built directly for the Museum of the Royal Capital of Prague in the neo-Renaissance style, to the design by architect Antonín Balšánek, in 1896-1898.

Permanent expositions:

Prague in Prehistory, Medieval Prague, Prague at the Turn of the Middle Ages and Modern Times, Baroque Prague, The Langweil Model of Prague from 1826-1837. A primer for visitors to historic sights - the touch display for visitors including those with impaired sight is dedicated to the Romanesque and Gothic styles.


History of Floods in Prague (30 April - 19 Oct 2014)

The exhibition from the collections of the Prague City Museum will mark the first anniversary of the latest big Prague flood at the beginning of June 2013.
