Střekov steam waterworks

U Stanice 822
Ústí nad Labem, 400 03

The Střekov waterworks, of the type designed by architect Karel Schlimp, was built in 1874, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Austrian Northwest Railways section from Lysá to Ústí nad Labem and Děčín. Its central part contains the engine room and 100 cu.m-water tanks, the side wings have flats for the employees. Water was pumped from the Elbe river through a specially driven gallery. In the 1930´s, the original steam boiler was replaced with a new one, but the steam engine probably remained the original one. The waterworks went out of service as late as the 1970´s, with the end of steam locomotives on Czech railways.

The steam waterworks is located approximately 150 m from the Ústí nad Labem - Střekov railway station building.
