In the 2nd half of the 19th century, the chateau was used as summer residence by Ferdinand I after his resignation as Austrian Emperor. Tours present not only the Emperor´s and Empress´s apartments, but also the dining room, and the chapel where heir to the Austrian throne Archduke Franz Ferdinand d´ Este married Countess Sophie Chotek in 1900. All the interiors are lavishly furnished and ornamented with paintings by Josef Navrátil on the ceilings. A rare installation is the surviving personal lift from 1870. The chateau is surrounded by a vast park.
